I believe every character was being tested, that was being tried . The questions that Mary faced were vigorous, and John Proctor got tested with Elizabeth always telling the truth.
The characters that are unergoing a test is Elizebeth, John, and Mary. Elizebeth was tested for always telling the truth same as john and mary was tested for saying that everything was a lie and pretending.

Elizabeth is the one who is being tested because John came out and told the court what he did. He told the court that Elizabeth would never lie, so they are going to see if she will lie or not.
I think mr. proctor was undergoing a test because they brought his wife in and asked her questions to see if mr. proctor was telling the truth.
